Join Our First Wellbeing Workshop

The Athletes Network for Safer Sports, a program of the Sport & Rights Alliance, invites you to the first of a series of webinars designed to support athletes and allies impacted by abuse in sports in their healing and advocacy journeys.

Our first event will discuss wellbeing strategies, trauma-informed practices, and tools for dealing with trauma exposure and burnout – acknowledging that everyone’s healing journey is different, and rarely linear.

Event format: This 90-minute session will be interactive and conversational, and will make use of breakout rooms. Therefore, if possible and available to you, try logging in from a laptop and make sure your Zoom app is up to date before connecting.

Interpretation will be provided at request.

Moderator: Joanna Maranhão (she/her) is the Coordinator for the Athletes Network for Safer Sports and a Brazilian Olympian, survivor, researcher and advocate. She holds a Master of Sports Ethics and Integrity from the University of Leuven in Belgium, and previously led the campaign against Brazil’s statutes of limitation, establishing Joanna Maranhão Law.

Facilitators:

  • Julie Ann Rivers-Cochran (she/her) is the executive director from The Army of Survivors. An international leader in the field of the prevention and intervention of abuse in sports with more than 20 years of experience, she’s a fierce advocate for survivors and a trauma informed expert. 
  • Kimalee Phillip (she/her) is an experienced social justice and organizational learning consultant, facilitator, writer, educator, and researcher whose work is grounded in, and informed by Black and Caribbean feminist thought and practice.
