Take Action: Join the #Hello Campaign

Tell the IOC to Answer the Call

a Sport & Rights Alliance film, by Siddhartha Hajra

For athletes facing abuse, a hotline is a lifeline. Athletes deserve a hotline that works.

Our latest report shows once again that athletes facing abuse often have nowhere to turn – especially when the abusers are powerful sports officials who are well-connected with national governments.

Join our campaign to get the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to establish a safe, trauma-informed hotline where athletes can report abuse without fear of retaliation.

Over the past year the Sport & Rights Alliance has monitored and advocated for Indian athletes raising complaints of sexual harassment and abuse in Indian wrestling. After receiving reports that the athletes were not satisfied with current reforms and requested more international support, we traveled to India in March 2024 to interview over 18 individuals related to the case, including athletes, coaches, parents, witnesses, journalists and supporters.

The Sport & Rights Alliance is calling on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to overhaul the existing abuse hotline for Olympic athletes and establish an effective resource where survivors of abuse can safely report any physical, sexual, or emotional abuse – when national bodies are unwilling or unable to effectively respond and especially when there is a clear conflict of interest – and access a clear pathway to remedy.

Acknowledgment

We understand how challenging it can be to hear about new cases of abuse in sports, and especially for those with lived experience. We wish to emphasize that no individual with lived experience has an obligation to speak up. Your existence and strength are already sufficient. We believe you and honor you, and we hope that this campaign brings us one step closer to a safer world of sport. If you or someone you know needs support, please use the map at this link to find the nearest local resource available: https://worldplayerscare.co/local-support.

Sport has the potential to be a catalyst for human development, unity, and freedom, but too often it instead brings harm to its athletes, fans, and communities. We exist to uncover and rectify the many abuses that exist both in and around sport. We aim to transform sports into an authentic force for good.
